Embedding a Films on Demand Video Segments

Many Films on Demand videos are broken down into segments. Because the Films on Demand search in Canvas does not show segments, you will first need to search for the video in the Films on Demand database.

Step 1

Go the Films on Demand database (the full site, not the in-Canvas version). Search for the video that contains the segment you are interested in. The segments are listed in the right panel next to the video. Copy the title from the panel.

Step 2

Next, go back to Canvas to bring up the Films on Demand Search screen. Then paste the title in the search screen. In this example, the title is "Elliot Hundley". Searching by this title brings up that segment. Then, click the Embed button.

Linking to a Films on Demand Video

Click the Share button. Then, under "Embed/Link, click the copy button next to the "Record URL" field.

A note about linking: If you follow the instructions provided here, a link will be produced that enables both on and off-campus access to the video. When the link is clicked off campus, a log-in window will appear. Students can log-in using the same credentials they use for Canvas (their UM usernames and passwords).
