Using the Online Reader: Navigating & Linking

To read a book online, click the Access Now button. This page also has information about the book, such as noting that there are unlimited copies available.

You have now accessed the online reader for this ebook. Notice the menu at the top of the screen that includes quick access to features like citation and sharing (or links). A table of contents is available in the right panel, allowing you to navigate the chapters.

Each chapter or section in the table of contents can be downloaded. Click the download arrow then follow prompts in the pop-up window.

Click the share icon from the top menu. Then in the pop-up window, copy the link for the ebook.

You can also get a chapter link. First, go to the chapter by clicking on the chapter title in the table of contents. Then click the share icon at the top menu and copy the link in the pop-up window.

Using the EBSCO App and Reading/Downloading eBooks

Did you know that EBSCO has a free app that allows you to search and access our content from your mobile device? This app can also serve as an eBook reader. (The EBSCO app is available in the iTunes App Store and Google Play). To get started, follow the steps below or use this quick start guide.

First, click the "access with your institution" button.
Then search for Montevallo and select "University of Montevallo". If you are off the campus network, a UM sign-in screen may appear. Use your UM username and password to log-in.

You can tell you signed in to Univesity of Montevallo when the banner at the top of the screen reads "Univ of Montevallo Library".

If you want to save any articles, eBooks, or other content, you will want to set up a My EBSCO account.

Click on the person icon in the footer at the bottom of the screen.
Click "Sign in to MyEBSCO".
- If you do not have a MyEBSCO account, click "Sign in to MyEBSCO" too. (Pro Tip: A convenient way to quickly create an account is to link it to an existing Google account.)
- Once you are logged in the banner at the top of the page should change from "Anonymous Researcher" to "Your Name".

Sign-ins should last up for 30 days.

Read and download books using the App

Most (over 99%) of our eBooks are multiuser, meaning that multiple people can read them online without limitation. Follow the step below or refer to this guide for instructions on reading and downloading eBooks in the EBSCO app.

For eBooks accessed via the app, you can choose to read a book online or download it. Reading online does not require an MyEbsco account, while downloading does.

If you choose to download an eBook, you will asked to enter number of weeks you would like to access the books. Most of our eBooks can be checked out up to 20 weeks at a time. Use the plus or minus signs to select the desired number of weeks. Then click "Download eBook".

Once a book has been downloaded, you can access it in one of two areas:
- Click the home icon in the footer menu and then find the eBook in the "Recently Viewed" section.
- Click the bookmark icon in the top banner, then click the E-Books tab.

Note: While most of our eBooks are provided by EBSCO, we do have some eBooks from other vendors. In the EBSCO app, all eBooks (provided by EBSCO and other vendors) can be accessed. However, only EBSCO eBooks can be downloaded within the app.
