Reserve a Space
Carmichael Library has the following rooms and spaces available for reservation by members of the UM community.
Click on the name of the room, date, and time requested in order to place a reservation. Group study rooms will automatically be reserved, and the key may be checked out at the Library Checkout Desk. For all other rooms, a request will be sent to library staff for review.
All rooms (except the Group Study Rooms) must be reserved at least 3 business days in advance of the event. If you need to use the room sooner than that, you must contact Nicole Adelle Rich to reserve the room.
*If you are an instructor and would like to reserve a room for library instruction, you can do so via our online form, in 25Live, or by contacting Anna Mary Williford (205-665-6108) or Kayla Johnson (205-665-6109) directly.

Dorothy Wilson Group Study Room (Located on 1st floor of library)
Location: 1st floor of library near the back of the JA Brown Room.
Large table, 12 chairs, whiteboard.

Dr. Jo Ann Rayfield Group Study Room (Located on 1st floor of the library)
Location: 1st floor of library
8 modular tables, 10 chairs, large monitor

Barbara Belisle Group Study Room (Located on 1st floor of the library)
Location: 1st floor of the library.

Sound Lab/Testing Room (located on 1st floor of library)
This space includes a recording setup with an Apple workstation, wall mounted screen, podium, audio and video recording software. A second computer, a PC, can be used for Respondus tests. If you are planning on using the room for proctored tests, like the GRE or Praxis, please request the testing laptop at the Checkout Desk. For more information, click the Sound Lab/Testing Room link.

Alabama College Class of 1959 Group Study Room (Located on 2nd floor of library)
Location: Top floor of Carmichael Library. (Capacity 4)
Standard size table, 4 chairs, and white board.

J.A. Brown Room (Located on 1st floor of library)
This space is primarily for individual study and academic events. It has comfortable seating that can be rearranged. Additional seating and technology may be requested.
* PLEASE NOTE: The Large Group Study Room is located in the back corner of this space.
Capacity: 50 -
Pat Scales Special Collections Room (Located on 2nd floor of library)
Located on the top floor, the Pat Scales Special Collections Room is reserved for faculty and researchers using materials. The room is also available for class sessions in courses that incorporate Special Collections materials into assignments. Classes must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance with an Archives staff member. *For further room usage information, please review the guidelines and policies on the Pat Scales Collection page.
Capacity: default 16, up to 50 (if additional seating is requested).

Computer Lab (Located on ground floor of library)
12 PCs and 6 iMacs.
The computer lab is located on the ground floor of Carmichael Library near the front entrance.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a "classroom" setting.

Digital Media Lab (Located on ground floor of library)
16 workstations with iMacs, 6 scanners, and a large monitor where an instructor can project his or her computer screen. Software includes Adobe Creative Cloud, iMovie, iPhoto, Image Capture, iTunes, and more.
**PLEASE NOTE: The lab is available for booking by faculty & staff only. To book the lab, email Mike Price, the DML Librarian.

EBSCO Library Instruction Classroom (Located on ground floor of library)
NOTE: Library instruction sessions have priority for the use of this room.
If you want to reserve the EBSCO classroom for a library instruction session, please use the "Register for Instruction" form, reserving it in 25Live, or by contacting Anna Mary Williford (205-665-6108) or Kayla Johnson (205-665-6109) directly.

Technology available upon request. Please note that the Falcon Success Center offices, tutoring area, success coaching rooms, open computer lab, Digital Media Lab, EBSCO classroom and vending area all border this space.
