TeachingBooks.net is an online database of thousands of multimedia resources you can use to explore children's and young adult books and their authors. Use TeachingBooks to search titles, authors and illustrators. The resource collection includes short movies, audio book readings, interviews with authors and illustrators, book discussion guides, and more.
Did you know that Carmichael Library has over 14,000 children's and YA books? The books can be found in the Youth Collection, Pat Scales Collection, and Archives & Special Collections. The books in the youth collection can be checked out; and, appointments can be made to view the books in the Pat Scales and Archives Collections.

In the tabbed box below, click the Book Lists tab to browse themed and interactive lists of books from our collection. Currently there over thirty lists to choose from. The books in the lists include call numbers as well as links to videos, lesson plans, instructional aides, and award information. These lists were built using the TeachingBooks site, a resource made available throughout the state by the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL).
