PSYC 499: History of Psychology

1. Start Here: the library search box

Just like you do for articles, start your search for books in the search box on the library homepage.

2. Search Beyond UM: Worldcat and Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you need to search for books or other materials beyond our library's collections, use WorldCat to search the library catalogs of the world!  Our free interlibrary loan service can connect you with the books you need, even if we don't have them on the shelves at Carmichael Library. Visit the Interlibrary Loan guide for instructions on how to register for a free account and to place requests for books (and articles too).

3. You can also check other sources for older works

You may want to check a few online databases that provide full-text access to some older works (especially those written before 1923 and those with open access).

Google Books is a great supplementary resource to discover books that pertain to your research. The Google Books digitization project was a partnership between Google and some of the world's largest libraries to make electronic copies of millions of books.  With this incredible repository, you can access the full text of many books that are in the pubic domain.  You can also search for and read snippets of books that are under copyright protection.
